Walkathon in Brisbane - Australia - Jan 4 2008 Photos Here
4th of Jan 2008, Brisbane. There was a very wild, stormy weather. Heavy rains pouring non-stop for pretty much the whole day. But, that didn't stop the wonderful group of people coming to the walkathon to celebrate the world Braille day. By around 6 p.m, people assembled at Forest Lake community area.
After everyone wore the T-shirts with a lovely message describing the significance of the day by Shriman Rajaraman, we were quickly described as to why we assembled here and the importance of bringing awareness about our visually challenged brothers and sisters. The walkathon then proceeded through the Lake boundaries in POURING rain. It was great to see the spirit of all those who participated.
With orange and green shirts, chanting Jai Sriman Narayana, we cirucmambulated the Lake (about 2 km). After the walk , we concluded the walkathon. A total of about 25 people attended the walkathon. Considering the most inclement weather that battered us, it was great to see the spirit of all those attended. Photos Here

Braille Day – Walkathon went on very well with our beloved HH Swamy Ji’s blessings. We have got around 65 Bhagavad Bhandus, to mark the first international event in Sydney organized under the new banner of JET Australia .
All our Bhagavad Bhandus recited ‘Vishnu Sahasranamam’ and chanted “Jai Srimannarayana” in this walkathon.
Our Event Co–Ordinators informed the enthusiastic and dedicated gathering about the importance of the Braille day and determination with excellence shown by the visually handicapped children across the world.
The event co-ordinaters Smt .Padmaja Gudipati and Smt. Veena in their speech assured the support to our visually challenged Bhagavad Bhandus of Netra vidyalaya. Photos Here
25 Bhagavad Bandhus participated in the event. First we all assembled at Federation Square and after prayers we started the fund raising event within the premises of Federation Square. Later on we performed walkathon holding placards and dispaying badges from "Flinders Street Station" until "Shine of Rememberance" and came back to Federation Square where we concluded our program at around 8.45 pm.
During Walkathon many Australians donated; some of whom, themselves, walked up to us and contributed ! They were extremely happy about the Charity Work being undertaken.
