Jai Srimannarayana!

JUNIOR COLLEGE FOR VISUALLY CHALLENGED

"WORLD BRAILLE DAY"

JET & VT are jointly organising the programme of "WORLD BRAILLE DAY" walkathon on JAN 4th. Details Here

1st Ever Junior College in Andhra Pradesh for Blind Students !!

The first Junior college in Andhra Pradesh for the Visually Challenged that provides education, boarding etc., free to the poor blind students, initiated by JET was inaugurated on 31st Aug 2007. HH Sri Swamiji inaugurated the college.

50 Blind students were admitted this year who shall pursue the subjects of History, Civics and Economics. 5 Teachers were also on the field to take care of all the educational needs of the children.

A team of generous philanthropists, under the guidance of HH Swamiji, volunteered to begin with the project.

With the active role and commitment of Sriman Chandraiah for the cause of visually challenged, it was possible to get the permissions to setup the college though there were objections that there are many colleges around in Kukatpalli.

30 Laptops are provided to the Blind College students  and intensive training is under progress, so that they can attend the exams  without scribe

The college is being run in English Medium, for two reasons.

Firstly, the students get exposure to many other sources of knowledge in the modern scenario of the world and secondly, the students can prove their performance by themselves without the need for any scribe. As of today, they have to pursue the higher studies beyond 10th only through a scribe who studied less than them.

This is resulting in the improper presentation of one's real talent, affecting the real performance of the candidate. Now, as they are getting well versed with English, they can type their answers on the system and give a printout which will enable them to really present themselves for their performance. However, process of procuring the permission from the government is on.

Recently, as "Greater Hyderabad" has come into effect, the permission processes etc., to setup the college have began afresh though all the formalities were cleared earlier from the Government side. So for now the college is set up in a rented campus in Kukatpalli along with boarding facilities to the students. As and when the clearance processes complete the construction of school building begins, which will take about 6 to 7 months to finish it.
This being the unique project taken up by JET for the sake of Blind students, it opens a new avenue of social service to those who are really keen to take part in such social service activities.

Every month the total maintenance of the college comes to about $5000 ( Approximately Rs.2 lakhs) including boarding and educational expenses. JET has shouldered this responsibility with the full confidence that many like minded generous philanthropists shall come forward to take part in running the institution.
The college was inaugurated by HH Sri Sri Sri Swamiji on 31st August 2007. The team of members of the Netravidyalaya Junior College Committee expressed their commitment to HH Sri Swamiji for His noble gesture. Students who completed their 10th standard in the Netravidyalaya School at Vizianagaram have expressed their gratitude to HH Sri Swamiji for giving them this wonderful opportunity to learn better and become more useful in service of our country.
HH Sri Swamiji offered Mangalasasanams to Sriman Rama Rao and to all the members who played their role in making the project fruitful.
