About Mangalatharangini

This is a unique programme in Hyderabad conducted under the guidance of His Holiness Sri Sri Sri Tridandi Srimannarayana Ramanuja Chinna Jeeyar Swamiji.

On the auspicious Ekadasi day of June 24th 1999, the day on which Perialwar (VishnuChittar) Thirunakshatram fell. It is a wonderful spiritual event that has been celebrated to change the whole scenario of the present day's instability and insecurity of our life into a fruitful, purposeful glorious future. "Let us start thinking... what best we can do to get the best out of this life?"

Devotees performed Sri Sudarsana Puja. About one Lakh devotees sat in the form of a Lotus flower with each group of devotees as a petal of it. They all performed puja simultaneously under the guidance of His Holiness Sri Swamiji. This is a programme intended by the devotees to pray Lord to bestow Peace, Prosperity and Strength on all of us starting from an individual to the whole Government and also to eliminate the anti-elements and evil forces. Prayer does Miracles. It has been proved once and again. Lord listens to our prayers. When a single individual can do so much of good to the whole then how much good can be done to the society when lakhs of such individuals does it collectively. It will have more strength and more extent of its effect. May this event bring all the fruits intended to the whole humanity.

It is the Sankalpa (Divine thought) of His Holiness Sri Swamiji that leads the whole programme to Great Success. It is the auspicious day of Ekadasi and also the birth day (Thirunakshatram) of Perialwar (Vishnu Chittar) the father of Goda Devi.

Mangalatharangini, the day from which it was initiated there was a lot of response from volunteers, though there is a fear of lack of response from public. In cities, though there are a number of devotees, it is highly difficult for them to adjust with their timings, distances, travel etc. Inspite of their so many reservations, there is an unimaginable response and many of them participated in this programme with a lot of enthusiasm and devotion sacrificing many of their comforts and businesses.

It is for the sake of this country, their welfare and in general, for the sake of the whole world! By evening everybody was in fear of rain. It is raining in almost all the areas in and around Hyderabad/Secunderabad. As H.H. Sri Swamiji reiterated in the previous day volunteers meeting, that there will not be any rain here !!! It's a wonder to every body. that there is no rain at all in this ground on that day, though there is rain in the places around. Basing on the words of His Holiness, no arrangements were made to counter rain. It is a programme of Lights. Everybody has to light the lamp and do the Puja and then do the Prayer. It is evident that Lord Himself wants this to be done gloriously and that's the end of it.

His Holiness arrived exactly at 5.15 pm IST along with Perumal Sri Rama Chandra and adorned the Stage. The holy fire brought from the Lakshmi Narayana Yagnam of Srivilliputtur combined with the sacred fire of other nearby Divya Desams was first brought to the Lord Sri Ramachandra to start off the programme. The fragerance of Divinity was spread wide over the ground. Devotees had the darshan of the Jyothi and were blessed by it. Lots of Devotees arrived and they were orderly guided by the volunteers to take their seats in their respective positions. They were issued with the lamps and books and prasadams and other required Puja materials. They were arranged to sit in the form of a Yanthra in which there is Padma (Lotus) spread over. This Padma, the Lotus, represents the heart of human being.

It is a cool and pleasant evening. The programme started with regular Prayers to Lord Sriramachandra. Dignitaries gave their messages to the assembly. Then started the programme of inauguration of the Hindi version of Sripathi Sthuthi Mala the book that consists of a number of traditional sthothras and the method of performing Puja etc.( Earlier there was Telugu version only). This was inaugurated by the Honourable Union Minister for Urban Welfare, Sriman Bandaru Dattatreya. Then the interactive multimedia CD on Sri Vishnu Sahasranama Sthothram (for Win95/NT) developed by Jeeyar Educational Trust was inaugurated by the Endowments Commisioner, Government of Andhra Pradesh Sriman Balasubrahmanyam IAS. Then, inauguration of BhakthiNivedana cassette comprising of Telugu compositions on the greatness of our acharyas and our tradition, was done.

Then His Holiness Sri Swamiji led the devotees to perform Puja to Lord Srimannarayana. It is amazing that, though, there are clouds and cool breeze waving softly over the wide ground, there is no drop of rain !!! Devotees immersed in delight, lighted lamps and performed puja to Lord.

After Puja, His Holiness repeated the Mangalatharangini Prayer for the welfare of the country and in general for the sake of the world peace; all the devotees followed in tune with it. This was a Unique programme by itself where lakhs of devotees collectively prayed for good Government, good rulers, good society and elimination of the Evil. The Prayer was repeated for four times in four popular languages (Telugu, Hindi, Tamil and English). The Universal Prayer vibrated in the nature again and again. Sriman Venkatesan Iyyengar conducted prayer in Tamil.

Thousands of Lights, when held by the devotees to the Paramathma in the form of nature, it appeared as if it were a ocean of Lights and the hearts of devotees played with happiness.

The prayer started with "Vandematharam...." and ended with our national song "Jana gana mana.......". This had spread the nationalism all over once again.

On the occasion of this programme, Sri Swamiji in appreciation to the services and sacrifices rendered by the valient soldiers and military officers, announced Rs.3 Lakhs and it has been handed over to the Brigadier Sriman Ramakrishnan. On behalf of Jeeyar foundation, Dr.Ch.Nageswara Rao and Dr.Sudha had arranged for the amount.

The unimaginable response from the public with the hearts filled with Divinity , National Spirit and the pride of the sacrifices of our beloved soldiers, for the sake of their country, transformed the whole of the attitude into a Divine Lamp offered at the holy feet of the Lord.

The intensity of patriotism and the Love towards their country and in general towards the whole humanity, of the ocean of devotees and patriots who attended this programme with the Divine call of His Holiness Sri Swamiji, is inexplicably great. It is the right time to say about two things in this regard.

1) Volunteers meeting is in progress (on 19/6/1999) in the ground, and His Holiness Sri Swamiji is explaining the plan of how to arrange devotees in Padmakara and where to have the entrances, where to provide parking, how many volunteers should be there at each point and how to serve the public etc., then one of the students from the volunteers raised and asked His Holiness, " There is continuous downpour of rain from few days and if this continues even on that day then what to do ?" For that H.H Sri Swamiji asserted that "Rain will not be there at that time" , then the boy asked again and again about the situation, then His Holiness said "Dear! even if it rains everybody does it in rain like that only".

The same doubt threatened everybody. Even committee members also raised the same point and looking at the strong assertion of His Holiness Sri Swamiji, couldn't come forward to speak about it.

It is amazing that which rained all the days specially in the evenings......, on that day, it did not rain at all in the grounds. It is continuously raining heavily is some places and lightly in most of the places of the twin cities on that day and there is not even a drop of rain in Bison Polo Grounds. What if it isn't a wonder!!!!!

Sriman Dr. C. Nageswara Rao in His speech said that "...like Lord Sri Krishna who stopped rain from falling on the devotees by holding the Govardhana mountain on his little finger , Sri Swamiji stopped the rain from falling in the ground with his mere Sankalpa....." .

Sri Swamiji in His discourse, tied that greatness to the thousands of the devotees who assembled, saying that " ...it is the sincere prayer and wish of the thousands of devotees whose hearts are filled with patriotism and devotion which Lord, out of compassion made the whole into an umberella and protected the ground from rain....." and added that "....it is the proof for your dedication and purity of your sankalpa ...."

2. Right from the beginning of the programme there has been a wave of air blowing furiously. Even during Sri Vishnu Sahasranama Parayana and during the speeches of the delegates the decoration clothes arranged on the stage were flippering and falling away from their places. His Holiness asked everybody to hold the Lighted lamps up during the mass prayer, showing it to the Lord and asked to perform Harathi. Any lighted lamp will generally go off with those winds. It's amazing from the time they held those lamps up, the glow of lights remained steady as if some sort of force prevented the wind to wave, and the lights glew unmoved and it appeared like a sky of innumerable big lights hanging from it. It is a wonder !!! H.H Sri Swamiji ended His discourse saying that Sankalpam of devotees, perseverence of volunteers, Grace of the Lord, Blessings of Sri Vishnuchiththa ( Perialwar) Alwar and Lord Narasimha Swamy are all responsible for it. H.H said that our Prayer has been accepted by the beloved Mother Nature and our Lord Srimannarayana.

Lord listens to the sincere prayers of even a single person then, what if there are thousands and lakhs of devotees praying for the sake of Peace, strength, Knowledge, Wealth and Power to serve Lord in a more efficient and effective manner!!! He definitely listens to their prayers and we can see the results of it !

Amidst wonderful lighting arrangements, all devotees lifted their hands up with lights in their hands, showed it to the Lord Sri Rama Chandra and prayed "Pallandu...." to the Lord. A memorable view that got imprinted in the hearts of the devotees and the flash of divinity was spread to the heights of the skies and to the deepest and bottom layers of the hearts. An incredible experience !! that can bring Lord to stand before us. If not Lord, who can make us participate in such a wonderful event !

The programme ended with it. A number of Vikasatharangini units came from their places in groups and as individuals, making their own arrangements. A number of devotees and patriots from different cities and places have informed that they have conducted the mass prayer in their places in different temples and in nearby grounds in the same time of Mangalatharangini. Sri Swamiji offered Mangalasasanams to all the volunteers who worked day and night and those who guided them, and to various voluntary organisations who took active part in this, and to school students belonging to different schools, to Sriman Ramachandrareddy who tried his best to collect the ground for this programme, to Smt.Latha Bhupal Reddy and Smt Vasumathi Bhaskar Rao for arranging puja material to all the devotees, to the co-ordinators of the whole programme Sriman. Prahladacharya , Sriman Lakshmi Narayana Sunthwal, Sriman Venkatesan Iyyengar, Sriman Ranganatham, to all the donors, to Sriman Raghunath and Sriman Srinivas (Delhi) for their efforts to get the lamps from Muradabad and all other devotees who co-operated them to conduct this programme.

Devotees, having their hearts filled with the Divine nectar, raised their voice with "Jai Srimannarayana" that broke the silence of the skies. Devotees thronged towards His Holiness Sri Swamiji. Sri Swamiji, with the same smiling face left the stage and the programme was a great success. It is the Lord who wishes and it is He again who executes it. His Holiness Sri Swamiji is the human form of Lord striving to redeem us, who is before us, along with us and we are extremely fortunate for having born as His devotees !!! He is the pioneer in arranging and organising such wonderful, purposeful and delightful events for the sake of all the living beings on this Earth. He is the path setter for many followers who organise such events taking this as an inspiration, taking this as a lesson. Rise above your routine to participate in wonderful events and programmes undertaken by His Holiness Sri Swamiji, conducted for our sake, so that we can feel the flavour of the Divinity, the ultimate purpose of our birth.
