Do You Wish to Construct or Renovate Traditional  Temples ?

Then, the  following are the guidelines for you...

 1.  Consult  the science that deals with the authentic ways of constructing temple, performing various pujas, utsavas etc in the temples.  Such a science  is called  A:gama.   It is a science that reveals us the ways and means to perform various  constructions and rituals  as according to the Vedic injunctions. It is not a science created by human mind, but it is a  practical  science that came from Divine through Sa:sthras.
            If it is a Vaishavite Temple then consult, Sri: Pa:nchara:thra:gama  or  Vaikha:nasa:gama  according to the tradition to which  that temple originally belongs to.
            If it is a Saivite Temple then consult  Saiva:gama. 
            If it is a Sa:kthe:ya temple then consult Sa:kthe:ya:gama.  

            If it is a temple that is built for public cause then it should abide by the A:gama.   It is a proved fact that  any Temple that  exists in  a society  that  is against  to  its  A:gama  is not good for all those who are under  it's  influence;  then what to say about those who build / support them !
           

When an Atomic Power Station  is being built , it cannot be built  according to the desires and or  tastes   of  a  freelance / playful  artist  because it should look beautiful, or because  it comes into the convincing logic of the builder / investor.  It should be  strictly designed and constructed according to  the rules that abide to atomic science such that  it  doesn't harm anyone and also that,  it generates  lots of  power which is  to be supplied to the people and industries.  If such a care is needed for material industry that serves the society, how much care should we take to construct a wonderful industry which is  more  virtual  but,  cultivates morality and elevates  our spirits to the Divine heights,  gives  peace of  mind, inspiring  everyone  to lead  purposeful life ?? 

Though there is water everywhere ie., in air, in clouds, in earth etc.,  we need a device like a tank with tap  to bring that water available to us when we are in thirst of it.   Tank should be connected to the resource of water.  So also, though there is god everywhere, we need a place where,  we can enjoy  His Divine presence.  And that idol  should be consecrated, deified to connect it to the root resource.   It is good, if the water available around us in different forms is accessible to us whenever we wish to satisfy our thirst.  But, everybody can't do that !  So also, it doesn't mean that God is there only in the temple.  He is there everywhere.  Temple is a place for us to enjoy his presence direct.  To speak out to Him direct.  God is available to us in temple for our convenience.  And when it is a temple for public,  it should abide by the rules as laid by Sasthras, so that, the temple serves the true purpose rather than serving  the  egoistic and  selfish purposes of its institutors.

2.  A person who mastered any A:gama is an A:gama scholar.  He is the one who has a reason and authenticity according to the injunctions in scriptures or who has the proof of  practice coming since ages through an unbroken  traditional  lineage.  Any new experiment should abide to the authentic Sasthras without any compromise.  It is not a layman or an engineer  who should decide on how to operate  the heart when the person is in the ICU.  It should be an experienced doctor or an authentic Medical science theory  by an expert in that  field,  that can guide him to operate !  
        Though money plays important role... temples should not be viewed as  commercial centres and hence it is NOT  a business person  an investor or a constructing  mason to take decision on how to construct temple and how to do various activities in the temples.  They may give advise according to the experience they have in it, but, it should be validated by respective A:gama.
